Anyone know the best place to look for a new oil dip stick? I have a 78 Blazer with a 350. It's 4WD of course and the stick mounts in the block on the driver side. My parts store could not help me and said to try a dealer.

Yes but there are only so many that mount in the block, are on the drivers side and are for 4wd which uses a different oil pan due to the front pumpkin. Being that I don't have the old one, I need the proper length.

Tried the chrome one. Couldn't get it to fit into the hole in the block due to the chrome plating making it larger in diameter.

Thanks. I looked and none of the ones they sell are for the 4wd version which are 2.5 inches longer. They are longer so you can reach them from the outside of the truck without having to climb into the engine compartment. The tube is longer as well as the stick.
Dipsticks really aren't that hard to find, I got a generic chrome one for a sbc, I have a 76 blazer. Put some rtv around the end of the dipstick and put it in the block, bolted it to the manifold and its served me well.
