ok, ive read it on a lot of places that H2 wheels will bolt up no problem. i have a '81 suburban with a 4'' lift. im running 35x12.5 16.5 right now and tryin to get out of the 16.5. i would like to run 35s on the 17" H2 wheels. will they fit without rubbing? i have an ORD lift kit with the sway bar disconnect, so i dont want any issues like rubbing. SOMEONE help. ive been trying to find out solid info on this for a while. just want some clarification before i go out and buy some 35s.

I'm running a similar set up 4in lift 35s on h2s and they did rub when flexed out before i trimmed the rear of the front fender. You don't need to trim much though to keep them from rubbing under mild wheeling conditions.

Do the H2's bolt up without backspacing issues? I bought some 17" Dodge wheels and they rubbed the tie rod ends.

I had a set on my truck for a bit. Dana 44/14ff, stock acorn style lug nuts, 6" lift with measured 35" tires. They are damn near bald so I never wheeled with them, but wherever I went they never rubbed. Think they were 1" or so away from the TRE.

here's the thing. i originally had a set of 38x15.5 16.5 PJ dirt grips on it when i got it. they never rubbed when turning, just rubbed the back of the front fender when flexing. in my head its should work no problem, but im getting mixed reviews from friends and posts.i currently have BFG M/T 35x12.5 16.5 on it right now and i love the way perfoms, so i dont want to compromise the flex performance. i dont mind having to trim a hair off the fender or beating out the fender well. a buddy of mine has a 79 pickup and says that he tried them before and it rubbed big time on the leafs. maybe he just has a different power steering box??

With the tires and lift on my truck, don't even think it's even close to rubbing the springs.

I appreciate everyones help. ive been goin gray and bald for the past 2 months tryin to figure this out. hahaha. all i know is i HAVE TO get out of thes 16.5s. b454rat: the 16.5s that i have on now are about 1/2" from the TRE, the H2s are the same. if all else fails, i can always run a 33 or 34 on the H2s if it doesnt work out.

I had 16.5s and hate them as well.
Heres my 37x12.5 on H2s no lift.
Some trimming so I think you should fit 35s with a small lift easily.

i dont have anything against the 16.5. but in the "great"southwest, its really hard to find a good selection of tires for the 16.5. the PJ dirt grips i had chunked out REALLY bad after a few runs, and i dont want super swampers. theyre totally pointless out here in the desert. either way with the 17 or the 16.5 tires are pretty much the same, i just rather spend the money and get a good selection.

shouldnt have any rubbin issues w/h 2 's from what ive read on here (have u done a search on here yet???) they are a pretty popular swap...

sounds ok

think you'll be ok, as long as the backspacing is the same or close you should be ok. Do you already have the H2's? If not you can always have someone measure the backspacing for you and compare. How much is a good price to pay for those wheels anyhow, was thinking of getting out of my 16.5 too. But for airing down reasons. Can't afford beadlocks. I would just try them out, worst case scenrio you do some trimming or get a bigger lift;). I have 4" to so really want to know how it turns out.

Are you against the military surplus tires?

yeah, i have the wheels but no tires of course. everything looks good as far as spacing.

14 Bolt, i'll keep you posted on how it turns out. might be a while though, i dont really have $900 for new tires and i cant seem to find any decent used ones anywhere. im gettin my H2 wheels off a guy i work with for $200. out here in NV ive seen them as high as $500.
Blazin j, yes, i have been doin research for about 2 weeks now, but as i said before, its all mixed reviews.
another question for the minds. what's the difference between a 315/70-17 and a 35x12.5 17?? i know when the metric is converted, its basically a 34.5"x12.4 tire. but i've heard that the 315 is a skinnier tire?
