thats right, i think they fell out of a bag about a week ago and im wondering what is the best way to get spares made....shes an 89 burb...

do you guys think the stealership will make keys for my truck, or is the locksmith the only way to go? should i just break in, and replace all the cylinders??? ideas?

I had to get a key replaced on my 88 Fiero, locksmith was no help. So I ended up having to remove a lock cylinder and taking it in to the dealership. They need a number off it.

Find someone that's good with a coathangar. No reason to generate extra work by breaking parts. That will get you into the truck, you can pull the door panel and get a lock cylinder out easily that way.

Then remove the steering wheel and components until you can remove the lock cylinder, and you can take that in too. Although if your lock cylinder was worn before, might as well replace it.

I lost my keys for my 88 cutlass (which has the same keys as your truck) and AAA got a lock smith out and made me a set in 30 mins. So I know a locksmith can do it.

AHHA!! I have AAA, what did they charge??

Well they did it for free, but I was on a road trip. Im not sure if they ll do it at your house for free.

As a repo man I used to have keys made off the vin number. I know for certain ANYTHING newer than 94 it can be done But I recall getting keys for a 88 VW so you might try that. I would just call the stealership and ask if they can make keys off the vin on a 89 burb. It was about $14 per key when I was doing repos.

Any decent reputable locksmith should be able to make keys. I once lost the key to one of our watertrucks at work and since my MIL owns a locksmith shop she sent out one of her techs. It took him 10 minutes of inserting and filing, inserting and filing a blank key to make another one. I was amazed.

To get into the 'burb simply remove the rear side glass... take out the lock strip then simply pry the rubber gasket out. Be careful not to break the glass.

Next you will have to remove one door lock and the ignition lock and bring them into a locksmith. They can make the keys from the #'s or file to fit.
