Took the blazer out for new years and thrashed it pretty good- and started loosing power steering while running up a very verticle sandhill...
Got it down, and seemed to work well enough as long as i kept the rpms up...
Checked it out the next morning- fluid was low- so i topped it off, started truck, and no power steering at idle. If i kick the rpms up over 1500, the steering feels ok- until you try to turn the wheels to full lock- then it gets hard to steer again, and it pukes fluid from the reservoir...

Any advise for me on this subject?

The steering was just off this truck while i fixed the cracked frame, and the pump was replaced at that time- thought i was being proactive, maybe i got a bad pump? Or maybe the box is just letting go? Pump has maybe 2500 miles on it. Cant remember if it was a reman or a new one.

If the pump was low it may have sucked air and you may have to bleed the system again.

Otherwise, it would be the pump. I'd bet you have air, though.

Yeah, i thougt i might have had air in it, but ive driven the truck 200 miles to get home, and when i filled the pump up, i tried to saw the wheel left and right, several times, shut the truck off, let i sit a few minutes, and did it again... Thats the only way ive ever bled any of this stuff- is there something else i should be searching for?

And for all of my efforts to "bleed" the system, all im getting is fluid puking out, and steadily worse performance...

Put the front axle on jack stands, with the engine not running, turn the wheel lock to lock about twenty times, making sure the reservoir is full of fluid periodically. Then run the engine (still on jack stands) and cycle the steering lock to lock another 10 times or so. Let it sit, make sure it's full, and you should be good to go.

The reservoir overflowing is likely from air in the system.

Alright, will do. Ive got no problem trying this manana as i dont have to work until the evening, and thi doesnt require ripping anything off the truck, so i will give it a shot. When i tried last to turn the wheel lock to lock, it was in sand, but had weight on it...
