I need some help quieting down my blazer. I have 2.5" 40 series single in single out they are mounted right under the seats and turn out in front of the rear tires with 2.5" pipe. Do you think putting 3" out the back of the mufflers just like the existing pipe would help? I don't want to get rid of the flowmasters since they cost so much. I just want them to be quieter.

THANX

bigger pipe is louder. swap it out for a 70 series. I have one on my DD. its loud at higher rpms but quiet at idle. same flowmaster rumble without constant overbearing noise.

Run a longer length of pipe behind the muffler that will also make them quiter. Make it exit behind the rear tire rather than infront.

I run a super 40 and mine is quite unless I am on it then it sounds good (to me):D

Definitely make the pipes longer. Run them straight out the back.

x3, get the pipes away from the door. I am running twin 40s on 2 1/2"s, but it drops out behind the tires and out each side. It is really not that bad, nice mellow tone.

I run 2.5" 70 series on mine. Nice and managable.

Im actually starting to get used to mine, I have dual 3" single chamber race flowmasters, its easily the loudest thing I have heard outside the dragstrip, I love it.
