So when I put my Jimmy into reverse it will make a loud pop from the bell housing, its a 350 to 400 combo. Also when I'm driving every once in awhile when I stop it'll make a ching ching noise from the bell housing. Any idea? It didn't always do this it just started recently.

Bolts loose? (either motor to trans OR trans to t-case)

Also look at the u-joints. A worn, sloppy joint can make noise and it can echo up thru the driveshaft.

a cracked flywheel could definately make a sound in reverse, but not drive. and could 'ching' when you stop and the momentum put on it suddenly changes. pop off the inspection cover, or the starter and have someone slowly crank the motor over with the crank pulley bolt. watch for cracks in the flywheel, especially towards it's center. you might have to use a mirror to be able to see the center of it.

another shop told one of our customers that the motor i'd just installed in their car was blown because it was making lots of noise. but when i put it in reverse it went away. in park it was awfully loud and in drive it was there but much more quiet. i then noticed the noise was loudest by the bell housing. i popped off the flywheel cover and it was all but shattered. much cheaper easier fix than another motor

So I went to drive it, I didn't mess with anything on it yet. It didn't happen. I'd say there is a 5% chance of it happening when I stop. And it's only in drive, not in any other gear including first or second. Also the popping happends when it flexes, even a little bit sometimes on speed bumps. For the pop it'll pop from the front if I'm turning and hitting something and then the rear if I hit something to hard. Does that sound like a flywheel problem for the ching sound? I'm so clueless when it comes to a bell housing it's the one part of my truck that still is magical and has never been opened.
