train horns, ebay is the only place I've seen them...I've got a set of semi air horns on my burb

Any deserted railyards nearby???? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

I'd like to get one of those steam whistles off a factory--maybe then those jerks with cell phones would hear me coming!--maybe a foghorn off a battleship would work!!. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Local big truck parts place has a triplet of air horns. Put a set on my friend's DuraMax. Supposedly not legal in KA b/c they're so loud. Can hear him ~3-4 industrial blocks away, DISTINCTIVELY!

JCWhitney has abunch of random horns like that. train horns and big rig horns, and even an ocean liner horn, which would command some serious attention. /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

Train horn! No way i know from expeirence that you'd need plugs or ear muffs. Maybe if you don't put as much air into them as locomotives do. HMM just stay away from anything that says 5 chime those are the louds ones, you know like hear for 10 miles . Some dude in a duramax had a loud loud horn at the lima and indy jambos not sure what kind

i happen to have a train horn on my blazer there was a set that cam off a train i used the shortest one about 3' then there was a 5' and the last one was a 7' o woulda used all of them but where do you put them i gave the other 2 long ones away aready sorry but the 3 footer i have will put the fear of god in people and actualy hurt your ear if your standing in front of the blazer ( its mounted on the inner fender pointed to a hole in the radiator support run by a 5 gal air tank and aconverted york compressor the valve is sinply a semi truc air horn valve i got at napa)

It all comes down to how much you want to spend. Griot's Garage sells one that is supposed to be pretty decent and it's a self-contained unit. (no on board a/c) There are other websites that offer incredibly loud train horns that require the on-board a/c. If you already use on for tires and tools you might be half way there. The price range is about $40 to $400.

Do you have a part number for this valve? I have a semi air horn i wish to install but still want the electric horn button in the steering wheel to activate it. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Search McMaster.com for these part numbers:
7877K55
7876K11
7876K12
7919K84

i collected the parts over a year or so on E-bay (horns, switches, air tank, etc) and went with elec on-board. Primarily for air-mattress & camping stuff more than wheeling.
Added air-horns to the setup easily!!!! Have a switch next to the air pump switch that adds the LOUD horn to the regular horn!
Hey hear me now! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

(what part of Wis are u in? I'm near Tomah)

This is the place where most companies get Air Horns. Napa should prob. carry this brand if not try a Truck dealer or junkyard.

This Catalog should have the parts you are looking for. Just tell them you are looking for grover then give part # listed.
