I'm not sure if this is the way they all are or is it just me. My gas pedal is like half a inch from the floor, and to push the brake, I have to pick my foot up. If this is not the way it's supposed to be how do I fix it?

It shouldn't be that close to the floor. Have someone give you a hand and from inside the vehicle depress the gas pedal top the floor and have your helper see if you're getting full throttle. If not then either the throttle bracket got bent somehow or the cable is stretched and needs replaced.

Possibly the wrong cable as well. It may be that one end or the other is too long allowing the cable to rest too close to the floor. Most likely as 4X4High said, the cable has just stretched or the bracket has bent.

The cable might have popped outta the lil bracket that holds it behind the carb.

I think its the cable, its the original from the 305, I now have a 350.

Could someone confirm this?

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.

Shouldn't make a difference having a 305 or 350...

Probally a very effective gas mileage improvment mod though! :D

most likely the cable is stretched. also check and make sure there is a return spring on the carb end of the cable. my spring broke and the cable would stick a small bit and not let the truck idle down all the way.

Mine was like this when i first bought it... I endedup just bending the pedal linkage thingy untill it gave me WOT at the floor.

Maybe my cable is F*cked to...haha im not sure but it worked for me.

Does it have a tall intake on it? Maybe they have a standard hieght bracket on a tall intake. When I swapped intakes I cut my bracket and welded in a spacer piece.

Seems like that would screw up the cable's "throw" though

I just put a new intake on my sixpack; I'll hafta see how it does.
