I need help determining why my truck stalls when you put it in gear.

I tuned it up for smog check. Correctly set timing. Now it idles low, and when put in forward or reverse dies.

Rechecked timing at 0. Disconnected battery cables for computer to reset. No change. Appreciate input.

Thanks.

I'm guessing this is on your 87 burb? If so did you disconnect the EST (electronic spark timing) before you set the timing?

Yes, disconnected EST wire near firewall, timed to zero, reconnected it. It read 0 after reconnecting wire, which "at the time" I did not realize was not good, should have shown running advanced.

Did you shut the ignition off before reconnecting the EST wire?
