so i had recently bought a 88 k1500 an i had installed a oil pressure gauge. it had low oil pressure around 10-15 or so. So i dropped the oil pan an replaced the oil screen an oil pump then i started it an it had higher oil pressure at about 40. Until i reved it then it droped back down to about 10 an now thats where it stays at unless i rev it then it will shoot up to bout 20 an when i turn the wheel it almost sounds like my truck wants to die an my oil pressure drops. anyone know what the problem may be thanks.

I just replaced the oil pump an oil screen cuz I thought maybe that was the problem. An the motor is a rebuilt crate motor an the guy I got it from said it only had a few thousand on it.

Considering the Oil system is a controlled leak,
I'm thinking the pressure has escaped, elsewhere....

Maybe yer galleries not sending flow, due to blockage?
was yer oil nasty?

I'm almost positive it's a blockage.
Maybe the 'rebuilder' didn't line the bearing holes up properly. :doah:

there might be a blockage some where. because when i first got it there was water in the oil when i did a oil change an i was thinking maybe a blown head gasket. but the truck still ran an had no problems starting. so i went under an all the bolts on oil pan were loose so thats when i decided to go under an take the oil pan an pump an stuff out an replace it. but i just found out i need a new crank so that may have been my problem i might just buy a whole new engine or rebuild the one i got now.

Take a pry bar to the harmonic balancer and the block. If it moves out more than a thousandth or 2 than your ("throwout"?) bearing is bad. Rebuild time or new motor. Edit: didnt read that last post... Figured it was crank though. If you have to rev it up to get pressure with a new pump, its worn out.

Also, check your power steering fluid condition / level.

It will definitely put a load on the motor, and my cause the idle to drop enough that the pressure drops?:dunno:

i checked the power sterring fluid its pretty good i think i just need buy a crank for it an replace that an it will prolly be good

"endplay"..... You're thinking 'crank runout', which is different. :thumb:

Oh, oops... You meant 'thrust bearing', which controls crank endplay. :D

Yes thrust is it. Thats what the " and ? Were for lol. Thanks uti man!
