On the inside of the door is a plastic and rubber vent that allows for the release of air pressure inside the cab when you shut the door with the windows up. The air has to be released and these vents allow for the release ... If you have had the panel off you will see what the door looks like having the a several rows of Vertical relief cuts with the vent seal behind it. The door vent pattern is horizontal as shown. On the very bottom of the door should be some relief cuts as well to allow the air to escape between the door seal and the outside.

The vents in my burb are covered and sealed off with sound deadening, and if all windows are closed the front doors are much harder to close completely. I will eventually open the vents again, because it's pretty annoying.
Here's some pictures of mine door panels. I'm about half way done with them. I cut them door handle section out to wrap it better with the vinyl. Then epoxied them back together and cover the epoxy with motorhome rubber roofing tape (because that was just some tape I had sitting in my garage). It's super sticky and almost impossible to remove. Probably overkill! Door handle area was broken so I added some plywood to the back and epoxied it in place. My Jimmy is in the shop being painted some I can't test fit them yet.
