lower tailgate seal

Anybody know where you can find the chrome lower tailgate seal retainer bar, my blazer had two, one at the step up edge on bed and one that held the lower tailgate seal which has rusted beyond repair.

Rare as hen's teeth...

Most guys remove the upper "shin buster" drip edge and throw it away, and the lowers always seem to be missing on these trucks nowadays. Some hardcore resto guys will have them but they aren't likely to sell you theirs.

Best bet might be to try to get some good photos and build a replica part to hold that seal in place. I got lucky about 8 years ago and found an OEM one but it will need to be cleaned up a bit and rechromed when the time comes.

I've actually still got mine. It's kinda rusty underneath the chrome. My plan was to clean it up and use it when I get the rear seal back in. I thought LMC made some kind of reproduction didn't they?

It's basically just a flat chrome length of steel with some bends on it to hold down the carpet at the front and rear of the bed.

Thanks, I was considering the bed strips, they looked almost the same.
