Ok I have a 78 longbed chevy 350, auto witha 205 transfer case with about 4-6" ofpring lift and 4" blocks all the around. Yes front axle also... so wanting to take the blocks out and run only the spring lift to be more functional as a dd and trailer hauler. Drive shafts are in back is 5'2'"or 62" and front shaft 2'4" or 28" long.

So the questions are...
1) what size is stock drive shafts in a late 70's to early 80's drive shaft?

2)anybody have a longbed chevy with a 4-6" lift that could measure there drive shafts?

more to come....

Well they have to have the same tranny transfer to get a close estimate. I think you're gonna have to pull the blocks and measure from yoke to yoke to get your driveshaft length :dunno:

I could measure mine but i had the 465/205 combo and the trannys shorter

You got a point but im just asking because i wnat to know if my shafts are to long for the truck to be lowered could you measure them anyway? also measure the 80 model you have please?

ok heres what i got

6"lift on long bed that used to have a 465/205 -overall length 66" (could be more or less. The combos gone so i may have slid it back some)

4" lift on blazer 465/205 -overall length 44"

no lift short bed 350T/205- overall length 46"

Not sure i helped at all though but i was kinda curious myself as i am taking the 6" springs i got and putting them on my shortbed ;)

EDIT: for the record i measured from outside of yoke to outside of yoke like where the ujoint would sit

Thanks man, any possible help is great. i also measure out side ear to out side ear so i will play with the numbers and guess at my options! I waitingon my U joints and got to go get a differnt set of tires don't thank my 40"s with fit so well after all this!
