LQ9 swap (w/ CA smog)

How do they know what you put in there, where it came from and if you changed the cam? If it all looks stock for that year and passes emissions do they know the difference?

Things like cam will fly as long as the vehicle passes the sniffer. Anything obviously aftermarket that draws attention must be approved by CARB. Some things, like heads, if painted to retain a stock appearance, without a logo etched in the side, would probably fly under the radar.

There are also scenarios where a visual inspection is not required and it is all about the sniffer test, which IMO is the way it should be.

Put the GMPP Erod LS3 in. That's what I would've done if money wasn't an object. :). The whole package is CARB certified

I'm doing something similar. I'm putting in a 2011 L9H and 6L80E.

Still trying to figure out the t case options. I'll have a late model manual driver side drop. The servicing technician wants to put that in and swap the axle to driver side drop.

In the state of California a visual inspection is required statewide everytime no exceptions.

Late model 241w/ speed sensor is a lot less work than an axle swap.
