i have a '96 suburban that is in cherry shape with a 5.7 vortec engine. nothing wrong with motor or power train, but i am considering swapping out 5.7 and putting in a 6.0 liter ls engine. i love the performance of my '06 3/4 ton truck with 6.0 liter. i have a performance chip on the 5.7 but am not real happy with the lack of power and response that i got. any suggestions or do you all think i am a liitle bit touched in the head. dont worry bout offending me cause i can take as well as i put out.
thanks for help Rand E. Renner

go for it, the LS motors are leaps and bounds ahead of the old vortec motors. your bigest hurdle will be the wiring, I would suggest taking your time and properly intergrate it into the existing harnesses

thanks 1979 jimmy 350
i appreciate your response could you direct me to web sites or places i could investigate wiring

Check out the links in my signature to see my build thread, as far as integrating the wiring into your truck I would suggest using alldata. This will get you all the wiring digrams for your truck then you just need to figure out how to hook the new to the old

It shouldn't be that hard to do. From what i have seen that will be easier to do then the 86 K5 I got done. Just do your research and take your time on the wiring.

LT1Swap.com has good harness information too. If you feel comfortable enough to do it yourself it is a good resource.
