LS motor interchange

I blew up my gen3 5.3L on my K5. Motor was an 03 and i have another motor from an 08 Sierra. Does anyone know if i can use that engine with the 03 wire harness? i'll be using just the long block. All the accesories from the broken engine.HELP!!!!!!!!!

I do know on the gen4 the knock sensors are located on the side of the block and not under the intake.

I'm not sure, but I think the crank sensor wheel on the 08 motor is different than the 03? You may be able to get around this with a new ECM, but then I'm not sure if the 03 wiring harness will have issues with the new ECM?

Yea a couple of the sensors are in different locations. The ecm for the 08 is different and wont plug up to my 03 harness.

I think 2003 was a crossover year for drive by wire as well. LS1 Tech should have everything you need! They are awesome there
