For you guys who have done LS swaps and kept the drive by cable and ditched the DBW, what throttle cable have you gone with? I have a Lokar aftermarket one, and to be honest I'm not to happy with it. The fact I have to modify something pretty heavily, I would like a better option. Anybody have something other than just getting the universal Lokar one?

Thanks All!

97 silverado theottle cable, connects right up and gets the correct full theottle input.

start with a DBW
finish with a DBW
:D while using cruise control

Not using DBW...already have the L29 throttle body that I'm using and sticking with it, and my tune has the changes for the mech TB too. Once I finish off the cable it's done, so gonna stay with it

Oh, and you can still get cruise to work with a mech throttle cable :)

I thought about looking at this. Is the cable long enough with the TB now on the front of the motor? And are you talking about the 97 half ton Silverado? If that is the case, I'll just order one off rock auto and be done with it.

Thanks for the input BTW :waytogo:

Yes 97 1500 with the r motor 5.7l. works perfect

Did you use the correct lokar cable? Ive got a lokar in my GMT400. Its a universal design but the TB end is made specifically for a cam style throttle body arm and a lokar bracket.

Lokars cables are hands down eleventybillion times better than GMs.

Hey, where did you get the cable for the 97 with a 5.7 vortec? Was it a dealer only part or did you find it somewhere else? Do you have a part number? Thanks!

I think it is just a dealer part cause I can't seem to find it otherwise. Not that big of a deal, was just wondering where you got yours. Will probably go to my local GM dealer this next week and get one. Thanks for the info

Not a problem, the firewall side needs a slight modification but it attaches fine.

What engine did you swap?

8.1 into my 89 V3500 crew cab. But I'm using a mechanical throttle body off a 7.4 Vortec as it bolts directly to the 8.1 and I can still use an actual throttle cable instead of messing with DBW. Once I get the correct cable it's all done on that issue

I used mine on a 6.0 but I think it should work, might want to to check Larry's thread for which cable he used.

It should be the same. Larry used a Locar aftermarket cable but as far as I know, you still have to modify it. That's why I thought there has to be a better option
