I did my LS 5.3 swap a few years back, but I never really address the EVAP system. I just left the hose open to the atmosphere under the hood. I'm kinda getting tired of smelling gas fumes, so want to address this. So, I just ordered and received a new AD Delco charcoal canister and have mounted it in its factory location. I've also plugged the fuel tank vent lines into the canister. But, I'm not sure how to "plumb" the charcoal canister to the LS engine without configuring a shutoff/on solenoid. I also don't want my gas fumes to affect the MAF (mass air flow) sensor reading, so I'd assume the gas fumes would plug in somewhere near the intake manifold or throttle body area? I'd appreciate any help you can send my way.

bravo on the swap! i so need to put a newer motor in my truck... ughh.. hopefully someone can help you with your huffing syndrome

That evap system was originally just hooked to manifold vacuum with no switch or valves. I have just hooked them to manifold vac on a few engine swaps with no trouble. I would think as long as you had a vac port near the throttle body it would be fine.

The factory had a purge valve on the intake manifold but required sensors and stuff at the tank.

mine is ran to the open but i need to fix that also. My plan was to run it to the 82 canister and cap off the rest of the lines.

I assume the problem is really going to be creating a vacuum leak, I am guessing manifold pressure is monitored on these engines? Any reason you can't just use it as it was on the LS motors?

If a solenoid is used, the system knows and expects the change in manifold pressure by a set amount.

Whether or not that matters? LS experts probably need to chime in.
