Heres some pics of my LS6 i built this weekend.
Came out of my buddy's 2002 Z06 Corvette.
Bone stock this 5.7L is 11:1 compression and under-rated at 405HP.

A big thank you to Scott, 4x4High for helping me with some machine work, block prep, and advice along the way.

I knew I should not have opened this thread.:bow:

Is it bad when those pics make me salivate???:D

Did the LS motor require any weird steps over a conventional "old" SBC?

Nice work RB!!

Is this called the "Secret Sledgehammer" project?

Where's it going.....your dad's new project, the truck or your Camaro..???

Get it running soon, I'll be in San Jose in about 2 weeks and I want to hear it run!!! :deal:

:usaflag:

I think I feel inadequate as a man now.

x2 :o

Two things about this post I'll prolly never be able to claim - "LS6" and "built this weekend" - No cash for a hot motor, and my builds are measured in months and years, not weekends. :doah:

Keep the pics and info coming - I'll just have to live vicariously through you. :D

Good job Ryan. Does this mean you're going to bring my ring filer tool back now? :D

Oh, in case you didn't know or hear already, i was forced to close my shop so i'm sitting home unemployed.

Thanks guys. To answer some questions...
It is now currently in the blazer with about 150 miles on it and i had it fully tuned today.
Went to Rick at synergy motorsports he tuned this thing to ~12.8 A/F ratio for best power, and he even said "this thing moves pretty good".

It actually idles now. I can notice i lost some torque from idle - 4000 rpms compared to my LQ9 6.0L, but from 4000-7000 this thing just freakin yanks. This thing will make power and buzz to 7000 vs. 6200 like my LQ9.
I'm sure its the the big cam and LS6 intake manifold are to blame for shifting the powerband up like that, which I expected..
My solution for that... Put in the 4000 stall converter now. :wink1:

I plan to drop this LS6 into my '01 Z28 next year, but i felt the need to drop it in my Blazer for a while and properly break it in and do some durability testing at the mud drags this coming weekend... :D

Did you make it to the mud drags? I went to the truck pulls on Saturday and that was a blast.

Scott,

Sorry to hear about your shop man. Guess its another sign of the times. I'd say we should do some wrenching together, but i'm unemployed up in sac now.

Best of luck to you!
