Lug nut ????

I just got my wheels for the 1 ton conversion. They are 17x10 welds I picked up from a buddy of mine for 400.00. My question is: 1) I s my studs going to be long enough for the thicker aluminum wheels? 2) What lug nuts do I need ex. thread? 3) If I need longer studs, which ones do I need to buy?

I am going to be installing the disc brake conversion on the rear, not if that will make a difference.

Its damn hard to say without any meassurements. if you need longer studs take a look at Dormans cataloge for studs.

I not sure if you are asking what size the lug nut is on a 1 ton but both mine are 9/16-18.

What I mean is both my single rear wheel and my dually are 9/16-18.

Take a wheel to Discount Tire and tell them you need a set of lug nuts. They can fix you up.

Most of the time around here, everyone avoids going by "application" like a lot of parts stores do, instead most go by actual measurements or part numbers. There are just way too many variables such as your specific wheels, what truck your axles came from, and most of all what may or may not have been changed on your axles in 20+ years of POs, mechanics, and dealerships fiddling around with things.

Some measurements or pictures next to a measuring device would help us answer your question with more accuracy/certainty.

I believe that most 14 bolts with the 2.5" drums do not originally have long enough studs for doing disc brakes with aluminum rims, although I have not personally dealt with the smaller drums for that purpose. I'm only going off what I've read here.

The type of lug nut you'll need will be based on what your rim uses. Steel rims use an acorn nut with a beveled mating surface, but aluminum rims have different types. I know of a domed surface, shank style, and the beveled surface (like steel rims use). There's probably a few more too for all I know.

Thanks for the info, I spoke with Curt at DIY4x today and he educated me on this. I ordered a set of DRW studs for the rear(disc conversion) and factory length for the front.
