I have mine stretched out to 109" and works decent. I went 3" each way from stock

A longer wheelbase will actually make your breakover angle WORSE...

If the objective is to rub less on the rocks, it sounds like your making modifications in the wrong areas.

Just my humble $.02

well iam not really worried about the under body iam about to up to 44s so that will raise it up enough to be about the same i think

i hit the end of my springs/ shackle on departures more than the bumper and stuff too and if it hits, oh well.

Well, what is hitting when you climb.....front bumper, rear bumper??? :dunno:

No arguement that the K5 can be improved as far as front approach angle, and rear departure angles.

I moved the front axle forward 1" and with 38's and a stock bumper stickout I can drive up to insanely steep rock faces without hitting anything before the tires start climbing. Out back is a different story. I moved the axle back 2" over stock, but there's still quite a bit of overhang. The gas tank is another area where I'm always concerned about rocks biting me if I'm not careful.

the rear bumber is whats hitting on my iam thinking of runnning rock with coilover suspension and he gas tank got a fuel cell fr thatbut i started to dril the spot welds out a lil bit today so ill post more pics whenever i get this started i think it will help alot ..
i went to pull-apart and got the bedside i didnt think i would ever find any sides but they had 3 or 4 old trucks got a gauge cluster to while i was there but thank you for any input on this subect it will be helpful

might also try shortbox bedsides, they might move the wheel well back more but not all the way back

Doing something similar to mine, when I get 'round to it.

I have a set of swb bedsides to replace the mashed blazer ones, I'm hoping to link the rear, push the axle back and move up to around 118 inch wheelbase and maybe throw in a tapper job while I'm at it.

Want to measure a set of lwb bedsides, they could work better in some ways.

I'm currently running with a 106 inch wheelbase w/42's, minor boat-side and a fuel cell cut & tucked well into the frame rails with a skid plate.
Approach and departure angles are really decent with this set up.

Rock sliders sit at 36"s but the 205 of the doubler set up only has 22"s of clearance.

vtblazer just ti help a lil bit from the front of the bed to the middle of the wheel well is 54 inches on our blazer bedside it 37 if that helps any let me know

Sanity Check:

OK, so if you install the new longer bedsides to move the wheelwell back 17" more than stock, you end up with a wheelbase of 121" (104" + 17").... the question is: What sort of rear suspension are you planning to use?

If you are planning to use leafsprings, you'll still need a rear hanger that will end up WAAAY out beyond the rest of the truck back there. Seems like you're going to keep bashing those hangers/shackles anyway.

If you are going with some sort of 4-link in the rear, then these type of issues don't really exist anymore.

72dozer, help me out some...

I can't cypher out 'exactly' what it is your telling us you want to do.

Are you putting your blazer body on a long wheelbase truck frame?
Or are you just putting the bedsides from a long wheelbase truck on your blazer?

I'm leaning more towards the blazer on a truck frame being you've talked about the longer wheelbase and if that's the case I'm guessing your going to cut the bedsides shorter behind the wheel-wells?

what doing is taking my blazer bedside drilling all the spot welds and taken nothing but the skins off so my frame inner fenders nothing will change so the I will do the same to the long wheel base bedside and putt the skins on my blazer .
iam hoping my taper job is enough where my tires will not need to go inside the fenders which then I will not move the inner wheel well
.. And now Suspension I was going with the fourlink but iam buying a house so fourlink is on hold so I am useing cj 9 leafs which are 45 inched long eye to eye so my shackles shouldn't be to far from my tires considering iam will be running atleast 40's but problay 44's

no i just had the tire off but thats is at 116 or 117 but that is why the front part is blackend in ive got to cut a lil bit off the front but i think it will be good when its finshed

well guys sorry its been awhile but i have been working on this project got th rockwell axle under it with all the links figured out i just got to pull it out and get it all welded up so i will post pics on it

Those links are just for your mock-ups right? They look far too delicate to survive in actual use...
