Hello all! as my username implies i am a starter & alternator rebuilder.however i am far from being a wiring expert.what i have is a 1984 m 1009 ex-military/cop blazer all original,6.2 diesel with the 12/24 v system.i lost all my lights, turn signals,brake,head/tail,blinkers,interior(floor) lights.when i got the truck a few years back the blackout light switch was bad,so it is by-passed.i cant read the fusebox, but pulled anything bigger than 25 amp & checked/cleaned them.still nothing.the turn lever is sloppy, but i cant believe that would affect the head/tail/brake lights.any ideas? it's below 25 outside with a good foot & a half of snow,so i dont have the leisure of just dinking around with it.thanks for any ideas, great site btw!!! Jamie

Sorry, but you need to dink around with it:( Check your battery connections at the firewall. There is a buss bar there. Use a meter and check for voltage and continuity along your main power wires to the fuse box. Make sure you have good ground connections.

The CUCV has some fusible links between the buss bar by the heater box and the power junction (has 2 screw terminals on it) by. the master cylinder. On mine some of the links were in really bad shape. They are gone now. Thats the first place to look.

our old 85 suburban did the same thing when we moved to ephrata, in the middle of the night. i cant remember what was wrong, so ill ask my dad what it was and give you the details. btw, i hear ya on the snow part, we have about two feet here now too. also, where is usk in washington?

ok, i just got off the phone with my dad and he told me that it was a feed wire somewhere on the frame that fatigued over the years and broke and shorted on the frame. it was under the hood on the driver side. hope that helps.

oh yeah, i live in ephrata, down by moses lake. right now im in rexburg id going to school and over here weve just been pounded by snow. any good wheeling up there in the edge of the rockies? not much around e-town except for the potholes just south of ML and some washes and draws in the hills.
