came across this truck a short time back. my cosine in turning 15. hes wants a old square chevy for his first truck. this would be his. i was at the right place at the right time and i got it pretty cheap. i just paid for the dana 60. years back it was used by the fire service. was cheap so i went for it. tossed on a dealer plate went for a ride. needs work. a lot it would seem. the flat bed looks like it was well made. some cross members are rusted out. so heres what it needs:
injection pump
king pins
glow plugs
rust in the flat bed
rust in the cab corners and rockers. floor is fine
4 tires. will lift anyway
suspension is shot. some bushing are completely gone. no big deal. will put in a lift anyway im sure.
there is a few wiring problems

im kinda up in the air. im thinking maybe i should sell it. get him something cleaner. with a bed too maybe. i have a truck like it with a wood bed. i dont want to give him a wreck. other side he has a good while before he drives..

what to do you guys think?? thanks:waytogo:

Buy another nice truck, and cut this one up for the axles.

true too. i would get more for something else for him.. im not sure yet

I wouldn't mess with a rusty truck anymore... but, I moved to the west coast and don't have to.

Let the boy work on it.

Let him build it up. That way when he does get to drive he can have the pride that he built his truck. Father son project ya know. Also by the time he can drive he'll know the truck inside and out so if something goes wrong he can fix it. My boy is a year and a half but I already got his truck sitting in the yard waiting for him to get older. Lol keep the one ya for and the money you saved by getting it cheap, use that to make the truck the way y'all want it. Keep the flat bed too.
