i got a 86 m1008. has the factory brush guard on it which i want to keep. i was looking to putting on my front hitch and receiver type winch but it doesn't look like the winch is gonna slide into the hitch with the brush guard there. just wondering if anyone tried this and what did they do. looks like i might have to make a new winch plate

how about using a longer piece of square tubing. Either removing the one on the winch plate and welding it on in its place, or using a longer reciever tube mounted to the front of the truck. Northern tool has the from 12 to 24 inces long for about $20- $40.

ha. sounds like a easy fix... just worried about if i have to pull sideways if itll bend or break something. this truck is gonna be a daily driver anyways but would like to have the winch ready to go for the winter

Check out this thread! Looks great. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=259738 I sent you a pm on Pirate.

that looks like a solid winch mount. i have a front hitch mount with a receiver type winch. that way i can take it off when im not using it.

heres a pic of the set up i have

so basically the problem im having is the handles on that thing are way to wide to slide in between the bottom portion of the military grill guard.

What about just relocating the handles? Maybe more verticle? Just cut and weld. Would be a quick and easy fix for the winte and if you wanted to make a different mount later you could.

i think thats the way im gonna go. if i do a extension to do it properly the winch is gonna sit out at least another 8inches.

basically i need a inch and a half to get it all the way in. might as well hack up the handles :(
