This would be going into my '76 K25 to support an upcoming LSx engine swap.

It looks like the 20 gallon '87 tanks take a different cradle than the earlier tanks. Is the '87 cradle required for the '87 tanks?

Do the M1008 fuel tank skid plates require a special cradle? If yes, will they work with the '87 tank?

:doah: wrong info before :doah:

truck tanks are short bed or long bed 15-16 gal / 20 gal . skid plate should be swap over deal.

I do know the M1008's and the other CUCV pickups had a 20 gallon fuel tank. The skid plate fits pretty tightly to it so would probably fit poorly on other size tanks.

I'd like to use the M1008 skid plates on the '87 20 gallon tanks, but need to know which cradles to use to make it work.

I can't tell if the M1008 used a different cradle than the standard '73-'86 cradles. I see in the parts books that the '87 has a different cradle, but I don't know if it's required when using the '87 tanks, or if the '87 tanks will fit correctly in the older cradles.

I'd imagine they were standard. It was a standard skid plate of GM's. Nothing fancy at all. CUCV's were built with GM standard parts for the most part.

i pulled a 20 gal tank from a 88crew cab and its same brakets/ cradles. just need the bolts/studs pressed in the top down to bolt up a skid plate or plastic gaurd from what i have seen .

i currently have a 87tbi short bed tank on non tbi tank brackets and its just fine.
