asking for a kid that bought my old truck. i put a 700 in it. whats i had at the time. was stock then. has 38in swampers, turbo 6.2 hes not to hard on it seems. has a external tranny cooler. the 700 in there is from a 88 k5. has about 117k on it now. all stock..

what should be dont to keep it alive?

thanks

I've got a 6.2L diesel (with turbo) and 700R4. I've had no problems with 4.10 gears and 35" tires. With 4.56 gears and 38" tires that CUCV actually has a slightly better mechanical advantage (deeper overall gearing). I wouldn't worry too much, especially if it's just street driving.

Ah, gotcha.

I do wheel mine in desert conditions (dirt and rocks) and it does fine. I do not, however, tow anything especially heavy with it. That CUCV is certainly a little heavier than my shortbed truck, but like I said it's got a slightly better mechanical end ratio than mine.

I'd definitely add a stacked-plate cooler. Trans cooling is never a bad thing.

Temp gauge is a great idea, good cooler and maybe a deep pan couldn't hurt either.

dont use over drive and be easy on it.trans temp guage will help to make sure it is not gettin too hot.its not gona last forever.no auto trans will.

If he wants to beef it up some he can do billet servos and accumulator. This will help it hold the power better. He may also be able to swap out the boost valve for more line pressure. The 4l60e guys do these mods and hold a fair bit of power. I would advise he talk to a local tranny guy about doing a transgo shift kit plus the mods above. A big cooler is always good and he may even want to put a converter in there depending on what he already has.

lots of guys say the pan. some say output line from tranny to see just how hard you are working the tranny.

so for my rig i have both . 1 extra sensor and a toggle switch to flip from 1 to the other. with primary on the pan temp first under normal use. then if i want flip the switch to line out temp.

in pan i just use one of these and swap plug for sensor. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BMM-80250/

thanks for the help.. got the gauge. extra senser, deep pan, bigger cooler, transgo kit on the way. sweet k30, good idea that what we are doing.. going to try the shift kit at my house. a first for both of us.
