What are the differences between the two? I read that the m1028s have a limited slip up front. Did the purpose of each differ in its military use?

Some m1028s also came with an np205, I have seen a few this way. I am pretty sure they have the same size spring packs as well, I know my m1008 has a massive set of leaf springs in the back, with atleast 10 or so leafs. So I would imagine that the front lim. slip, and possibly the t-case is the only difference. They are both also definitely one ton as well...d60 vs d60. Now there were some light duty m1008s that slipped out of the factory with 3/4 ton running gear, but from what I have seen, they are far and few between.

M1028 were Shelter carriers. Same one ton chassis as the M1008. Now there were some different models of M1028s.

IIRC: The M1028A2 and the M1028A3 were duallies (Dana 70 rear axle). The M1028A1 and M1028A3 had the NP205 xfer. I can't remember which variant had the front limited slip A2 & A3 maybe.

I won't even comment on 3/4 ton CUCVs
