anybody running one? I am thinking about getting one as a utility trailer/camping trailer to tow behind the JKU!!! Seems like it would be about the perfect size (about the size of a pickup bed) and the weight is about right. (1500lb empty so, 2000lb of cargo capacity before it hits the 3500lb max towing capacity of the Jeep) I'd probably want to swap the axle out for one with electric brakes and a matching lug pattern to the Jeep (would make spares easier plus, matching rims/tires on both would be pimp!!!) Any thoughts? Thanks!

Realize how heavy they are. Most general trailers with similar capacities weigh a LOT less than the M101's. The M101's would survive a beating longer but oy, those suckers are hefty.
I've considered them but they'd use up so much of the towing capacity even empty that I decided not to bother. My civy trailer can haul about the same amount and I doubt it weighs 1000lbs. Maybe 750lbs?

What have you got civvy trailer-wise? The closest thing I could find to what I want is the beartrailersports one I posted and it is $$$$!!! Basically I am looking for a triler along the lines of a m101 but lighter weight and with a reasonable price tag! (the price is the main motivation for me looking into the m101, it is the size and capacity I am looking for, it's just heavy!)

I've got a Dad and Uncle Special.

Back in the 80's dad and my uncle got a trailer axle, some springs and mounts, a tongue, and a bunch of square tube and got to welding. The bed floor and sides are wood. Need to rebuild that part actually.

It really doesnt take much for fab skill to replicate that trailer you posted or a m101 trailer. The unique look simply comes from skinning the inside of the frame so you can see the ribs. Id bet I could make one in a day for less than $250 in steel plus an axle.

I have a m101a1 that I got from govliqudation for around 400.00 I put a 14 bolt under it and modified the tongue some and it's perfect for my needs. These things will carry a full load of dirt, gravel or scrap steel and it does it safely and better than most pickups.
