Well folks, It's been said that I should start a build thread. However, I don't think I want to do all that- too much work. So what I will do is post pics of what I consider to be the highlights of my build, and maybe we can get some dialogue and direction going, as opposed to a giant flood of unsolicited info.

So without further ado....

This is version 1. I never was very satisfied with it, because it was basically just a big mall crawler, that didn't really do any one thing well. Except for look ridiculous lol

Finally, I came to my senses and realized that the whole truck needed to be revamped.

So here's V2, Phase 1:

To get me into the spirit of hacking and hammering and grinding, I decided on a whim one day that I would go ahead and bob the bed like I had been dreaming about for over a year.

Now that I was warmed up, it was time to mess with some heavy metal.

I re-routed my assist lines and bundled the vent tube in the protective sleeve with them. Also, did away with the ghetto zero rates+ Pinion shim setup that I got by with before, and had the zero-rates custom milled for pinion correction. Added bonus- new spring plates and U-bolts. Altogether MUCH cleaner than before. [extra U-bolt threads have since been cut down]

At some point here, In preparation for the crazy flex of the 54" front springs, I had version 3 of my front driveshaft made.

Springs btw were out of a first-gen S10 4x4 Blazer, +1 leaf. The jury is still out on whether or not I like this setup, (main leaf isn't very well supported) or will use some tried-and-true 52s, but one thing is for sure- I should have plenty of DS travel. Now to do something about that pansy little 1310......

That's it for tonight, kids. I'll try to get some more up in the days forthcoming... Apparently there might be a trip to Tuttle Creek happening the weekend of the 20th, and even though I have drill (Army Nat'l Guard) You can rest assured I'll do my damndest to get out of it and get some good pics with Chris and the boys!

Bitchin dude. So you know all those other nebraska boys? Where the effs your hub caps:D

I'm getting to know a few of them so far. I was actually trying to sell my truck since I didn't have anybody to wheel with, but then I sold a detroit to Chris and made some new friends.

As ugly as my truck is, I like to try and keep the body as nice as I can.. within reason of course.. Despite the fact that in doing what we do we often acquaint our precious sheetmetal with trees and rocks.

Chris's truck, with the hubcaps and glossy sheen is reassurance that maybe I can manage to not destroy mine. But then again, what fun is that? It's not like I have much to lose :D

Besides, Army trucks don't have hubcaps silly :)

Keep it and have some fun. Those other guys seem like a fun group. Id love to go out and wheel with em some day.

Looking great so far. Love that drive shaft! I need one of those.

Also, I'd say 95% of my Suburban was build while I was wearing flip flops.

Is the TNF engine cross member the Big block or small block model? looks like you have plenty of clearance.

Like I said, I have a special place for CUCV vehicles, so this is one of my favorite rigs I've seen in person, just needs an SM465! Can't wait to see what this thing can do.

I hear you on trying to keep the body nice, although I get **** for it sometimes. Mine is still somewhat shiney cause I haven't had enough chances to destroy it. :haha:

Keep the pics coming!
