Want to rebuild my engine. Planning on taking it completely apart and taking the block and crank to get serviced at a machine shop. Want to get the block cleaned up and bored 30 and have the crank turned to the recomended specs to keep everything computer friendly.

Any idea or range on how much a good shop would charge for this?

Also, anyone know a good machine shop in Atlanta?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Here at my shop i charge $50.00 to clean and inspect the block, $225.00 to bore and hone the block and $105.00 for the crank grind. Don't forget you're also going to need new cam bearings installed ($50.00), pistons and rods changed over ($96.00). These are labor prices only from here in California, may be cheaper where you live as this is high rent district around here. :D

in my area we have and have had lots of motor shops. best info i can give you. find as many local race car guys and get the place thay all seem to like the best for machine work only.

currently we have 2 motor shops. in my eyes as a auto mechanic thay arnt worth much. then a local machine shop guy who is backed up 1-3 months at a time. as he only does the machine work stuff . dosnt build the motors at all or dissasemble them.
he does just the stuff you asked for. and almost every local guy who builds his own motors takes and waits for him to do the machineing work.
