so, as most saw in my other thread, I've been watching a ton of "new to me" tube channel stuff... I know, I'm a little behind the curve..
anyway, I've been watching a bunch of stuff on machinist work lately... not fancy modern CNC stuff per se, but more on the oldschool mechanical side of things.... do we have any pro machinists here?
just trying to learn some things and get myself motivated to start really getting into using my lathe for more than turning down 3/4 drive sockets..
not sure what I want to make, but it intrigues me... I would absolutely love to have a bridgeport to play with....
in my perusing of said channels and vids, I came across this https://www.youtube.com/nyccnc
what really caught my attention was their tours of factories, etc... Starrett, Bourn & Koch, home shops in Germany, etc...
the Blanchard machines, scrapers, etc in this vid just absolutely blow me away.. monster stuff straight out of WW2, etc... beyond impressive... it's an hr long, but I found it highly entertaining.... the tour dude is very knowledgeable..
@Fordum maybe has some input?
and even more interesting to me are the hobbyiest type ones.. the german dudes are crazy good...
now, being an idjit, most of this stuff is WAY beyond me intellectually, I get lost quick with a lot of the terminology, etc, but it's exceptionally fascinating to me...
in another life, I would have loved to been someone in this field...
