Anyone have a good procedure for filling the fluid in the magnum under drive while it’s in the truck? I don’t remember having trouble filling it the first time but I’m making a terrible mess and wasting fluid.

Someone give me a heads up:thinking:

I had the same issue the first time so I reconfigured the setup when I had it apart.
I drilled and tapped another 1/4” npt hole directly in the bottom of the housing and put in a “t”. One side has the hose barb that connects to the sight hose and the other side i but a small ball valve with a barb on it. Now I can put a drain hose on it and also refill it through the same hose then shut the ball valve when it’s full.

Does that interfere wit the center half inch bolt that can’t be removed with the fitting in place?

Are you using a bottle pump? A pumper jug? Trying to fill it with a quart jug?

I tried pumping it down the vent from the top but obviously there’s no way to displace the air that way so I cut the vent line stride to force it in there but the vent was now full of fluid so that wouldn’t displace.
The unit is out now so I was going to pre fill it but that presents the problem of having to remove the lower fitting so the 1/2” bolt can be installed in the mount.
I just didn’t know if anyone had a slick setup for getting the fluid changed

This is the only pic I can find. I’m not sure what 1/2” bolt you’re referring to. I wish I had a better pic of the bottom

on my NWF box I used the vent hole and ran a line (between my cab and bed) up to a upside down Gatorade bottle with a barbed fitting. Eventually it drained into the case, I may have drove it to get the air moving, I can't remember. Heating up the oil helps too.

So basically I filled it on the bench with a flush plug in the case. Put a flush plug in the 90 degree fitting. Pre taped everything and once the mount bolts were in I unscrewed the plug and pulled the ol switcharoo. I lost some fluid but not much
