welp, finally took the bad boy out after many months of work, many posts... fired right up. Got to temp and away I went. Stayed at 185ish, oil was good, tranny level was good. Smooth shifts.

Anyway thanks to all of you that put up with my endless questions though, I doubt that will ever end.
So, a big thanks from Arizona.

So I've seen you ask a bunch of stuff. But I don't know if I ever seen what you were starting with?
What are you referring to as months of work, just the transmission stuff you posted about?

Looks good none the less..:waytogo:

Lol,,,, brother. If I were rich and had the time it probably would have a 2 months of work.
Anyway, trust me, it’s an extensive list of work...
I can post it if you like...

Thanks

Just start a build thread dude.
I have them for my crap and I never even work on them lol.

If you start a build thread, you should add the links to the posts about the trans, 203, et al in the first few pages. Keeps you from having to retype everything, but puts it all in one place if someone wants to make the effort to read and learn what you did

Yesh... how do I do that?

Honestly, It’s such a grand feeling that the k5 worked today, even if it doesn’t tomorrow. I had such huge butterflies. I watched the Merricks garage with @Stephen when they were saying “just drive what you have”... so I said F-it I’m going to drive it today and if it dies it dies.

By the way, the bilsteins from ORD are freaking amazing. No sloshing around, nice rebound. @centexk5

Seriously, thanks again for all the guidance.

You start a build thread. I’ll help you sort out the other stuff

Is there a wrap or something I can put on the bottom of the tranny hump to keep some of the heat out? You don’t realize how much heat is generated down there until the tranny hump is gone and it’s all coming right at you...
At least I didn’t realize it, until today.

Dynamat, look on Amazon for cheap generic options.

Im going to put this on the bottom of the hump. Should work decent enough.

That looks similar to what I put under mine. I bought a larger rectangle from DEI based on what @mrk5 found. It didn't need a heat gun to form, just some work. I believe that it helped a fair amount. I also put the thinner asphalt style stuff on the inside. It benefits from the heat gun help.
FYI, I bought some Noico for inside the doors, it says that it only has a 212* temperature limit. Remember to check that if you do something more inside.

@6872xtc
I ordered the piece from amazon. That 40min drive and the heat pumping up through wasn’t extreme but you could feel it. With summer getting close, I mean it’s already in the 100’s here in AZ, so might as well. I have like 4-5 coats of herculiner on the floor.

I do not plan on ever having carpet in the truck. Trucks shouldn’t have carpet anyway. So, should be good.

Trucks not having carpet is a phase spoken by a true southern boy! Try not to have carpet in a snow state and you freeze.
Brrr!

Ha! Somebody finally fell for that "Just go drive it" spiel!

:pimp::haha::haha:

Nice to see how much enthusiasm it puts back in a project, that's the idea for sure. Don't everybody do it all at once, this place will empty out and then won't be able to handle everybody talking about it all at the same time. Do your part, flatten the curve, take turns having fun...

Or just go drive your truck!

Put the aluminum heat shield on the tranny hump. Nevermind the black ink that was for my initial cuts. But figured why waste any of it and just put it all on.
Adhesive seems pretty tacky but we’ll find out once it gets some heat to deflect.

Shipping took forever. Left OC then to AZ then to NC then to SF then back to SoCal then to AZ...

I’m not sure why it was done that way by usps, took about 2 1/2 weeks to get from Orange ca to Arizona.

By the looks of your arm, I think it’s been more than two weeks...
