Well, I got a knock on the door about 4:00 this afternoon. It was a friend of mine and he wanted to go for a ride in the Suburban I just bought. So we headed out behind the house into the cow pasture looking for some mud. It's been pretty dry lately so we couldn't find any mud, then ha said "let's try the pond", I shouldn't have listened. Needless to say I got stuck, not your run of the mill stuck, but STUCK!!! After 4 hours of snatching with his new F350 4x4 Powarstroke and my neighbors Dodge Cummins 2500 4x4 we finally broke my receiver hitch in half and bent my frame where the hitch is attatched. It moved a total of about 18 inches in four hours with both trucks pulling at the same time. It's still there!! We've gotta go back tommorrow after work and try it again.:o:o:o

pics three and four are like a time lapse of it sinkin deeper! thats looks awesome, when i was stuck like that i had to winch forward and backward then forward to the left.

Nice! I guess the hitch was rusted?

No rust at all on that hitch! I'll get better pics. of it when we get it out.

Obijuan, three was just after getting stuck, four was after tryin' to get out for 30 minutes.

dam that sux...if my truck was running and i had my bumper to install my winch on, id come winch(16,500lb superwinch) ya out...i know it doesnt help, but id help if i could...got 2 33,000lb snatch blocks as well...dam the luck...

Well, I got my wife to bring my other Suburban out there with a Warn 8274 on it and it just stalled the winch, wouldn't even budge it.

Set up with more snatch blocks. With enough snatch blocks you could pull that truck out jut you and a friend pulling on the rope. (just make sure that the snatch blocks are strong enough)

Once thing to keep in mind is that as your truck is stuck you will need to be able to safely generate over 3X the weight of the vehicle on flat ground. then you need to add in the angle that you need to pull the vehicle up. Cameras are notoriously inaccurate at determining angles but I would say you will need to pull it up at about a 15 to 20 degree slope. that being the case you need to add between 25 and 50 Percent of the weight of the truck.

so, here are the numbers:
6000 Lb Truck (just a guess here, you will need to correct)
Multiply that number by 3
12,000 Lbs
then ad in slope pull.
6,000 Lb x .50=3,000

so, you need to generate a minimum of 15,000 Pounds of force to start moving that truck. Snatch blocks are your friend.

Cheers,

Rufus

P.S. looking at your winch (8,000 Lb pull) you will need to at least double your line, if not triple it with snatch blocks.

Thanks for that info, and you're dead on with 6000lb for the Suburban. I knew I needed snatch blocks, I just don't have any.:doah: :o:o

Funny, I thought 6000x3 was 18000. You must be using that "new" math.:haha: It looks like it would be easier to pull it forward since the front tires are nearly out of the mud. Could be deceiving, but nice stuck. Gotta be careful giving rides to Stupid Duty owners, they're not very bright and they'll get you into trouble.:D

Go pick up a 60" high lift. Pile as much sh!t under your tires then hook up the other trucks and pull.

Jeez!!!! Going back to my corner now. that is what I get for trying to do math at 6:30 in the morning.

Recalculate my numbers appropriately.

DUH!

Rufus

EDIT:
Cant leave it alone.
6,000*3=18,000 plus slope pull of 3,000 = 21,000 Lbs = lots more snatch blocks :-)

that looks like a mess.
shoot me a pm if you need to add another truck to that predator trap :D

Putting that much force on a 5/16" cable will snap it, no question.

Either highlift the truck up and put stuff under the tires or use several trucks with winches.

Now that you don't have a rear attachment point anymore I'd say that winching from the rear is probably out of the question.
