Helping a friend rebuild his 350. We measured the Main oil clearence and this is what we got.

#1 .003
#2 .002
#3 .002
#4 .002
#5 .003

I was telling him we should probably make them all .002 The question came when looking for bearings +.001 thicker. When I went to the store I saw wording of std +.001 undersized is that thicker or thinner?

Undersized to me I would think would be thinner. Never had to buy thicker bearings before.

What they mean is the crank is under sized, what's the engine used for?

Seems a lil loose, but I would run it of its just a bearing change and not a fresh crank

Engine will be used in a chevy 1500 truck probably reach 5000 rpm max.
Brand new crank. Want to set it up right.

What I have always used is approx .001 oil clearence per 1 inch of journal diameter
