I totally redid my clutch and everything related to the clutch back in May of this year. I am using a Centerforce 12" dual friction clutch with the centerforce throw-out bearing, replacement clutch fork, flywheel, pilot bearing, input bearing retainer, and clutch rod adjuster thingy.

So monday I go to drive to work its making bad noises when i depress the pedal and put the trans in gear. So I'm like whatever it might be some ice in there that formed over night since I had been driving it through all the snow we got friday-sunday. I pull into the gas station with noises getting worse. So I fill up and when I depress the clutch to start it the pedal doesn't come all the way back up. Now in order to get it to go into gear I have to push the pedal all the way to floor and then it makes more bad noises and the truck is trying to move foward like its 1/2 engaged. The truck still drives but grinds going into each gear and the pedal has to be dressed to the floor and doesn't come all the way back up, like its WAY out of adjustment, but its already at the end of clutch adjustment probably due to the 2" body lift. So these noises are of a groaning nature and sounded to me like a throw out bear failure, but I don't think that could be the reason the pedal is so screwed up.

Also I have been running without a dust shield or clutch fork boot since i replaced the clutch. Also lately it has been making a ticking/clicking sound as I let the clutch pedal up to start taking off in a gear. As well as I noticed recently that my 4 bolts that hold the trans ot the bell housing were loose, the bottom ones more that top allowing the assembly to have a slight bend until I tightened them up and they are still tight. I don't know how long that has been like that though.

Any ideas as to what this could possibly be?

Hydro clutch, right? Sounds like air in the lines or a failed clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder.

Could you elaborate on these "bad noises" you describe?

Nah its a manual clutch.

The bad noises are groaning, squealing, and a frictional noise like spinning a tire when its off the ground and hearing the brakes draging slightly. I don't know if that helps... :doah:

Are the pressure plate bolts coming loose? If the inspection plate is off that should be an easy check.

Usually a bad throwout bearing will be noisy with the clutch out and quiet when the pedal is pushed in.

doesn't sound like he has a hydro clutch to me. sounds like the clutch is way out of adjustment (rod adjuster thingy) that's where your sound has got to be coming from is the throw out bearing being maxed out. the clutch needs to be adjusted after awhile of use, when you have a mechanical clutch. (hydro) adjust its self.

before i go ahead and drop the trans i was going to try a long bolt with the head cut off to give me more room for clutch adjustment, and go from there.

Well, I assume the clutch was good for a while and has recently gone downhill.

It certainly sounds like your clutch isn't disengaging all the way but like I said, check everything you can inside the bellhousing before you drop the trans.

As sucky as it is in this weather you need to get under there and check the linkage, and pivot. I had a similar problem, and it was the pivot ball-stud that sheared off the side of the bell. The mech linkage works OK when all the parts are good, but rapidly becomes a POS when the various parts start to wear and fail.

had something like this happen to me and the fork for the throw out had come off the ball and moved was hard to get in gear made a odd grinding sound. so well you got the likage apart play with the fork some and see if its off the ball its real fun to get it back on. o btw mine happend after the bolts back out of the bell.

Thanks for the advise, I'm really hoping thats all it is... :(

ok an update:

So i finally got under the truck today and found out that the belhousing-block bolts were all loose and the flywheel was actually slighty contacting the bellhousing causing the ticking/clicking noise I was complaining about. Also the clutch fork did unseat itself from the pivot ball and the TOB. So I giggled it around until it seated back in and replaced the clutch rod adjuster thing with a longer bolt that I ground the head down to fit in the little socket on the end of the clutch fork. Now its all back together all nice and tight and the clutch pedal has a normal feel to it. Only problem is that the TOB sounds bad while the clutch pedal is depressed. Oh well, i guess its an excuse to rebuild my 465 now.

Hey Donny, gonna complain some more about not being able to list for-sale stuff without a paid membership?
