1994 6.5TD c2500 suburban with 4l80e (OBD1)
So I'm gathering parts to do a 2wd to solid axle 4x4 conversion. I've narrowed down my transfer case choices (for several reasons) to a np241 or np208. NP241 will require a drivers drop front end which is more difficult to come by, but I haven't ruled it out. will be using my existing 4l80e and converting to 4wd
np208 is passenger drop (mostly, drivers are extremely rare). My questions/concerns are:
1. Does anyone know if any NP208's ever came with VSS.
2. How could I go about getting a VSS on a 208?
3. If I get a VSS on a 208, is it as simple as unplugging the tail VSS harness from the 4l80e and relocating to the tail of the 208 tc?
4. What does my computer care (since it's OBD1) if I just leave the VSS harnesses in 2wd positions (on the transmission) and add the transfer case? Since the 2H and 4H are both 1:1 on the transfer case I should only have problems (if any) with 4L....so.... Would my issues be just an incorrect speedo in 4L, or will I have fuel delivery,shifting, and computer issues also???
5. Anyone know of a specific kit to mod a np208 to VSS that will sync it to a 4l80e?
6. If I go with NP241c is it as simple as moving VSS harness from rear of 4l80e and plugging in to rear of np241c??
