So what all is involves in making a dana 60 from a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 fit my chevy? Just cut off all the arm brackets, find the angle, and weld on some spring perches?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that axle would be one of the CAD D60'S, as in 'central axle disconnect". I know my 00 Ram 2500 has one, they have unit bearings , and the long side axle shaft is a 2 piece that is "connected" together when put in 4wd.

Personally I would look for an older Dodge 60 as opposed to using one of those, and yes they are Drivers side drop.

It will have smallish 32 spline axle shafts too, its one of the least desirable D60's out there.

But yeah, if you cut off all the brackets and coil buckets, center the axle under the truck and weld on new spring perches and you'll probably be there. Beware that there may be some trouble fitting the spring perch on the driver's side due to the placement of the pumpkin, its possible that front end won't really work with a Chevy leaf spring setup.

And, as mentioned, its driver's side drop so you'll need a driver's drop t-case too.

you sure about that tdawg:whistle:

an 01 dodge would have a crappy post 1994 3 piece axle on the pass side, driverside drop, unit bearings, ball joints not kingpins.

i am assuming that tom's truck has a dodge 60 pre 1994 with the pass side diff, kingpins, and selectable hubs.

if you did use the 01 axle you would need

new tcase $? unless doing sas in 3rd gen cgm
unit bearing conversion $1600
new 2 piece pass side axle $?
lotsa fab work for leafs $? unless you plan on putting a four link system in anyway which is still $?

this is why they are cheap

Never said it was 01, Just know he has a D60 out of a Dodge and It works Awesome, and Yes Manual Hubs. Yes King Pins Verry NICE
