Has anyone tried this?
I would love to get a set of tube doors, but weather in NY wouldn't let me keep them off all the time, and being able to cut a piece of plexi glass to fix and keep out all or most of the weather would be great and mount them to the tube doors.

So has anyone tried it?
Or think it would work?

you prolly could but it would be noisy at speed. they would have to be thick enough that they didnt catch the wind or errant mud clumps and break. if they didnt cover the whole door and window i think you'd be ok. like covering just the tube part. and if you wanted windows make a soft top jeep clear vinyl type thing it would work

it would work. it would take some keen cutting to make it look good without cracking it. and drill some holes and pop rivet it on... but it would scratched all to hell pretty fast...

use zip ties to hold it to the tubedoors. leave the plasitc film on the plexi to avoid scratches. or maybe use clear acrylic sheets

Lexan would be much better. More expensive, but more scratch resistent, stronger and you can bend/form it like steel if you need to.

I've seen some guys "fog" plexiglass by sanding it. Pretty much scratching it to your liking rather than letting it get scratched...I dunno, just a though.

If interested you might look up "fogging plexiglass speaker box" or something of that sort. They usually do it with neons underneath to create a different effect of the glow.

I plan on skinning my tube doors aswell, but just with Aluminum sheet in the .090 to .125 thickness range. Lexan would be cool too. Still be able to see thru but get some wind blockage. Won't hold up to the rocks of course, but could always be removed before wheelin unless it's just muddin or regular trail blazin.

Hum ok thanks guys. Just gotta get a set of tubed doors for the summer now. I am more concerned with keeping the rain out of the truck then anything else and not having to rush to get the normal doors back on.
