Its been a slow week at work, so I decided to dive head first into some work I've been contemplating, and do it on the cheap.

First I painted my hood semi-gloss black to match my recent driver's side fender.

Then ran out and bought hockey pucks and some big washers to farmboy fabricate some much needed body mounts. (4 of the front 6 were gonzo, which allowed my bumper to crack my new sidemarker after it being installed for only 2 days)

Then I went ahead and dug up the rocker panel I've had on hand for a few years and welded it in place. Had to get some 16 or 22 guage steel (cant remember which) to make the innder panel.

I was pleased with my hockey puck mounts (though I wonder how long they'll last) and my rattle canned hood for the amount of money I spent. The rocker still has some patching up to do in the door jam area, then I'll paint it.

This is what I have to look forward to next:

Furthermore: my truck is almost as wide as our "truck lift" at my work.

Haha.. I was about to chime in and say that at least somebody else always forgets to turn their crappy phone cam sideways to get the pic to come out right! Coincidentally, I always do the same thing on my dang Galaxy Android phone! :doah:

Nice work on the truck too. I really like that thing, looks sweet! :waytogo:

Did you leave drain holes in the rockers? I hope so.

yessir I did. The inner rocker panel was two separate peices of steel, with about 1/4" gap between them, so I laid an inch long piece over that, overlapping each side. When I welded the bottom of that, i left a small part open and sprayed undercoating all over and inside as best I could.

I did the passenger side like 2 years ago, and learned from that. On the passenger side I did not leave a drain. It still seems to be in good shape. But I also tried to make the inner panel exactly like the factory one, which was a huge pain. This time I just leaned the panel inward slightly to meet up with a contour in the floor board and welded to that which was alot easier and looks just as clean.
I also had my new snap on reciprocating saw this time which made cutting out the older rocker very easy. last time i drilled out each spot weld and only had a cutter wheel to cut. it took forever and my hands were sore.

Do you really have an NP231 or is it a 241? I thought all 231's were DSD and in Jeeps. Are you going to patch those rear quarters or just cut them for Bushwackers or something? Then paint it all flat black?
