It probably likes small children and farm animals better

What percentage of overdrive, on the blower, are you going to run? Most blown streetcars run a 1:1 ratio. The small pressure relief valve you got may not be enough if you have a backfire, unless you got something bigger on the backside of the blower I cannot see. Some streetcars run larger pop-off valves on the manifold. What is your compression ratio...somewhere around 8:1, I am guessing? If you really want to kick it up a notch, try bumping it up to 15% overdrive, installing a magneto,
and run alcohol through it. WOOOOHOOO! /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

I was just reading about 671s in summit today, it said that they come iwth a pop off valve on the back of the blower. I'm guessing his is the sameway. That damn sure would be a bad experience.

The blower is a 12-71 Mooneyham- stage-3. right now I an going to run 10% over. The small relief valve on the front cover is to relieve pressure in the gear cover. the Manifold is a Competition type. The blower mounting studs are Designed to seperate in the event of a back fire. It will have a blower Restraint on it once I mount the carbs /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gifpistons are 8.5-1 J/E blower pisons

You should look into an intake manifold with a burst panel. Blower restraints are nice to have. I remember being at Orange County International Raceway in 1979 when an airborne blower killed a little girl. That was the incident that caused race gear manufactures to create blower restraints, and NHRA to enforce the use of them.

8.5:1 with 10% over is going to make some real horsepower. In the early 90's I was part owner in a funny car that was mostly run in an organization called the California Independent Funny Car Association (CIFCA), on a 7.50 index. We did crank it up a couple of times to try our hand at NHRA Division 7 Top Alcohol.

The car had a Keith Black block and crank, Bill Miller Engineering rods and pistons, Brad Anderson fat heads and intake manifold, Enderle roller cam valve train, Enderle fuel pump, Enderle fuel injector and hat, Mert Littlefield Hi-Helix magnesium blower, Mallory Magneto and ignition box, Crower 4-disc peddle clutch, and a Lenco air shifted 3-speed.

How do you see around the Lap Lizard????
