Ok, so i LOVE my 1/4 drive impact. I can't even count the times i've strapped a 3/8" driver to 1/2" driver adapter on it.

So, the time has come to step up to a 1/2" drive LXT cordless impact.

Who has experience with these 2?

How does the high torque one work? Does it act like an air impact, or is there significant delay, like in the cheap corded impacts?

The high torque one seems to be getting phased out, and i can't find a home depot that has one . Trying to spend a HD gift card on it.

Will i be disappointed with the lower torque/lighter version?

Suggestions?

Mainly hoping to run my compressor less for lug nuts, suspension bolts, etc.

Will also carry it in the truck for roadside trailer repairs, tire changes. etc.

Thanks!

Might want to check out Kobalts version. Great warranty built good also. But i can understand you wanting Makita since you already have other tools made by them.

I run the hi torque one.. works good...

Sold!

Thanks Paul.

I just so happened to order the high torque one from amazon last night. Guess i'll use the home depot card elsewhere!

Holy $hit. I had no idea how heavy/large that high torque one was going to be.

Gotta test it out on lug nut duty for a while, and see how it like it.

So far, only complaint is that the LED light is on a manual switch, instead of auto on/off like the smaller impacts.

all of the impacts from the big 3 in that ft lb range are that size... the snappy's are smaller/lighter, at 3x's the price.. :doah:

tho a bit unwieldy, I tear motors down with that thing all the time.. awesome for ripping heads off, etc... I've never even used the light, not the kinda tool I'm in the circumstance to need it really.. drills, etc, yeah, nice having the auto....

Great to hear. I've never used a cordless 1/2" impact.

My friend used it to swap wheels/tires on his land cruiser today, said it didn't miss a beat.

We'll see how it does on my 8 lug setup. I expect it to do well.

Thanks Paul.

I did my axle swap with it, works good...Just a little large.

Thanks for the feedback. I've clearly got the lith ion cordless bug. I want alllll their tools now.

I really want the die grinder.. I use em with carbides a TON doing glass repairs on the boats.. cordless would rock... but i'd have to splurge for new..

couple others too, my 1/2 drill kills it, but i'd like a smaller driver, maybe the new brushless.. the radio and sawzall would be cool too..

somewhat broke my flashlight when I dropped it 25' from a boat to pavement tho.. :doah: :haha:
