Yep, its like a 3/8" impact body without the long handle, and there are 'butterfly' style actuators for forward and reversing the impact on the body. Check out any tool catalog like Harbor Freight and you'll see them.

I use something like the Mechanix Gloves too, when I can. I like 'em, expecialy when fitting, cutting and grinding metal. They are flexible enuff to work with, but strong enuff to take some of the beating off your hands. I ruff 'em pretty fast, they don't last very long. E-tape the right index (I'm left handed), that probably saved my finger from a bunch of "Jeff" incedents!

Jeff, putting up pics of it, Yikes!
Dave, asking for pics, Double Yikes!

well guys I got the moment of truch on this block; my buddy came over to take a look at this block, and he thinks it needs to a least have a ring kit put in.

I'll probably take it to a machine shop, and have them go through it. I'll do the disassembly, and the assembly to save with the costs.

I'll probably get it bored .30 over, and get a master kit for this thing...

I don't get my hands stitched unless it is in the palm - seems like a waist of money cuz you can get them heal good anyway. besides aren't scars suppose to be manly???

I just bought one of the butterfly impacts this summer. Been putting it off for years 'cause I'd look at it and think that it wouldn't really be useful. Wish I'd have bough it sooner! What a great tool!!!!
cool.gif
It's amazing how well it works, and it spins bolts out a LOT quicker than the air ratchet.

You guys like those butter-flys, even over a good 3/8s gun? I can see likeing them over a ratchet, but not a gun...

Maybe I'll have to try one out, they still seem odd to me..

You guys should learn to have to do things the hard way, like I do, without power tools, then you really learn what busting your knuckles is all about!!!

I don't even own an air compressor!! Trying to remove a pinion nut or something really brightens up my day.

I hate having enough hand tools to do all the work but no power tools. It's irritating because you know you can do it, you just are not going to like it.

amen!

actually I don't dig out the power tools unless it is a job with a lot of bolts.

I wasn't born with an air compressor and air tools.
shocked.gif
I've done plenty of work with just hand tools (and often, not even the right hand tools. Had to get creative very often. But then I started thinking about how much quicker I could finish jobs if I had air tools, more and better hand tools, etc. So I gathered up the goodies over the years. I've spent a lot of money on tools, but it's WAY less than it would have cost me to have someone else do the wrenching.
cool.gif

So just buy tools as you go. I could always justify the cost of tools, even specialty tools, by figuring out how much money I could save by buying the parts and doing the work myself. And the next time you need to do a similar job, you already have the tools you need.
cool.gif

Oh yeah, stay away from the junk tools that are made in China, Taiwan, etc. Stick with brand names like Snap-On, Mac, Craftsman, etc. They'll last a lifetime and are made to more exacting tolerances so they fit the fasteners better. This means you'll round off the corners on fewer fasteners and you'll bust fewer knuckles from the tool slipping.

actually that is exactly how I have been building up my tool collection; I figure how much it would cost my to pay to have the job done, and then figure out if I can buy the tools to close to the same price our cheaper.

well I have yet to find a situation in which I couldn't buy the tools & do it cheaper, and then I do have the tools the next time I have to do the job. is doesn't take long to have a good collection of tools to do the jobs!

Hay what r u doin'? Heckling me? -Jerk (LOL)

If I remember right, I used a normal ratchet on that T-stat houseing, not my Air. (Proably because the hose woudn't reach) Still, I use my chromies sometimes (to throw), But deffenetly prefer Power!

actually I'm quite positive that you are the one who convinced me to use air tools...

I remember thinking if the great Eric feels it is that important... LOL
