Well my truck is getting old and she has trouble holding it in. I'm tired of her piddling on my concrete so here is my solution

*Rant*
No really I just had this dam leak fixed not even 2 weeks ago. I took her in and had a new pan gasket put in and I made sure the pan wasn't bent and I didn't over tighten the bolts, 8 ft/lbs according to alldata. Get in her today to drive around a bit and I have to put 3 quarts of atf in. Sure as hell soon as I park in the driveway and leave her for 15 minutes or so I can see a decent size puddle underneath of fresh atf. Man I just can't win with these godforsaken chevy's, its like they all have PMS and this newfound undying hatred of me.

So now I'm back down to my trusty dodge and 3 broke down chevy's...
The blazer needs a new pan gasket and ball joints, Susie the yellow 2wd "piddler" now needs a new pan gasket and a new steering box. I'm not even going to begin on amber the big B****. She and I aren't talking right now.

These dam things are like 3 of my worst ex's coming back to haunt me. It wouldn't be so bad except as with everyone else money is tight right now. Dammit! Ok I'm done ranting. I love these irritating girls but dam they can get me so stressed out.

It's funny my high miler '90 Blazer doesn't leak a drop, and my '83 6.2 diesel (have a great rep for oil leaks) pick-up also doesn't leak a drop. :dunno:

My old '81 Jimmy...the leaks never stopped. It was like the exxon valdez, and as soon as I'd get one leak fixed another would start. I'm still amazed it was ever able to rust in the first place.

Its okay, fixed my trans leak, and the output seal on my tcase leaked, fixed that and my oil filter on the motor leaked, wtf?
Fix that and the ps pump blew a line. dunno what will be next.

Wait.. rear diff is vomiting at the moment.

The yellow truck has been one fight after another with the transmission. Lets see I learned a very good lesson on lock up converter's VS non lock up converters as I had the wrong converter when I had the tranny rebuilt. Blew the front pump on that lesson. Next I R&R'ed the transmission about 3-4 times and blew the front pump up again. Finally got the tranny in and working right and then I put it down for the winter and then this year I redid the exhaust and had to reseal the pan gasket 2 weeks ago due to it leaking. Now it's leaking again. So here I go again with transmission. Honestly I'm very surprised that this tranny still works right. It's a love hate relationship though. I've abused that poor truck like none other and she has pissed atf on me time and again. I think the only part of that truck that at I haven't replaced and is still stock is the rear axle.

I know a guy that is a tranny tech at a GM dealer, and when he inspected my pick-up he gave me a newer pan and gasket for the tranny. According to him the earlier 700R-4 pans are much more prone to leaks than the later pans. I can't recall the year split though...

Whenever a trans leaks the first thing somebody says is the pan gasket.Try checking the shift shaft seal itl leak and travel around the pan making everything wet.

if i have a leaky trans pan if it keeps leaking after a gasket replace i usually will throw a aluminum one on there and it usually works, same way with stock chevy valve covers. i think some things just shouldnt be stamped steel lol

I would say the 70's-80's valve covers were closer to tinfoil than sheetmetal.

Leaks suck. I just put a oil pan gasket in my ford, and then the timing cover or oil pressure sender started leaking.

Lol please give me leaky valve covers! I can deal with those I'm just tired of dealing with tranny pan gaskets.

Ever try ditching the gasket and using "Right Stuff"? I know there is an exhaust hole you have to avoid, but I've just been wondering how that stuff works for trannys. And can you take the pan off later without warping it to death?
