Man, I\'m learnin alot!

This site has become a new addiction. I can't believe all the knowledge that floats around here. I'm still fairly new so none of you know me, but I just wanted to say how much i appreciate the free advice and entertainment. For now I'm wheeling a stocker except for the 14 bolt and d44 and 33's, but I'm really starting to get a good picture in my head of how she'll be when the funds and time are available. The cool part is feeling like I'll be able to build it right instead of doing the old trial and error routine. This place sure beats the snot out of waiting for a reply from a magazine or having some idiot at the parts store ask why I'd want to do something when he has no idea what I'm talking about. And the mechanics at the Chevy dealer aren't into wildly modifying anything, "Oh, you'll just have trouble". Well, not if its done right, and explained to me by someone who's been there and tried it. Anywho, can't wait to get my s*&t together and show up on one of the runs that are always talked about here.
PS Can't believe I forgot to thank Steve for all the hard work!

Re: Man, I\'m learnin alot!

I hear ya on not getting help like this anywheres else! I've talked to a bunch of people about a 3/4 ton axle swap and they either look at me like I'm a dumbass or get confused as hell cause they can't comprehend modifying a vehicle from stock!

Re: Man, I\'m learnin alot!

Welcome & you nailed it on the knowledge-base in here!
I've been here since this was a little tiny formum a couple years ago with only a handful of us on it. Now, I brag to people what a database of knowledge I have backing me up on any subject. There's everyone from Professional bodymen(women), tranny builders, mechanics, engineers, & alot of VERY seasoned & knowledgeable backyard mechanics.

Hell, this place does rock!!!

Re: Man, I\'m learnin alot!

I started out with not knowing what the difference between a 10-bolt and Dana 60 was. Since I have been here I have really learned alot. just look, from a stock 1988 K5 4x4 with me having no wheeling experience to this: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/njk5club/files/Misc./Standard.jpg

Re: Man, I\'m learnin alot!

Man, I have to totally agree with there. I have done some small work on trucks in the past but never owned a 4x4. I knew I wanted to buy one but with all the different types out there I had no idea which type to pick. Then I came across this site and these guys and I just knew I had to have a K5. And what ya now two weeks later I am now the proud owner of my first K5. I feel it is all due to this site. I have learned more in one week by just reading post on this site than in all my time spent in 4x4 shops. I just wish you guys were closer so we could make some weekend rides. I love this site and praise the people who keep it working. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Why the hell not?

Re: Man, I\'m learnin alot!

The addiction gets worse...

For someone like me (no patience, experience, common sense), the knowledge I've seen thrown around in here has been incredible and a HUGE help. If I had a $1 for every $1 I saved by reading posts and asking questions here before I made a repair or purchase...oh, man! I spent all those $1 on Blazer #2...
