Well, I'm kinda waiting to get everything done. Without a rear driveshaft, it's difficult to keep tranny-T/C fluid from spitting out the rear of the 208. My friends here are telling me to dump the Holley and go Edelbrock. I dunno. I'm gonna try and tune the 750 and if I can't get it to run right, I'm going to drop down to a 650 Edelbrock. I want my baby running right.

Thanks for asking!

Manny
What happened to getting a BG Demon carb?

now you'll be afraid to get your shackles dirty!

i think he should be more afraid of getting the truck dirty right manny? after all your weren't planning on getting this niocs looking truck dirty Right? haha i hope you take lots of pics of your truck wheeling. Hey Tom,

HaHa! Me afraid to get my truck dirty? NEVER! I can't wait to bury it! That's why I built it! Yes, you will see tons of pictures and lots of video's. All of them MUDDY!

As far as the wiring goes. I will prolly do that once I get back from surgery and recover, so late April, early May. It's supposed to be painless. I sure hope it is! We shall see!

Manny

Yea i sure hope so, im saving my money so i can get the painless harness and get my truck running again

im slowly collecting parts to finish mine all at once, i even got a build thread going. hopefully soon my thread will be comming to life

I'll give you 1-1/2 what you paid for them if you'll spend the money on your truck.

No seriously

i did a painless on a 63 stang, and it was really easy, fords got these really wierd querks about that wiring and it was a big mess when we got to it. all the wires are labeled and the directions were pretty good. not the best because ford had a few different setups for alot of different things. sometimes they were the same color as stock but not often. if your even remotely framiliar with your truck and its guts, you will be on easy street i think. it took me and another guy two full 8 hour days to finish it. that includes redoing stuff that we messed up:doah: it was a learning experience for me cause ill never touch a ford again!

I put in one of their universal 18 circuit kits into my 78 Camaro. It took me two full days to get it done, and that was even with me taking my time and zip tying the bundles all nice and neat every 4 inches and installing autometer gauges in a custom cluster. All in all, i am glad I did it, the electrical system on that car is flawless now.

I have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow on my syst. I should know more information and from the looks of it, surgery is going to be the last week of March, bar anything preventing that.

Thanks!

Manny

Manny, my thoughts and prayers go out to you! I wish you the best of luck and hope you stay in good health.

manny, i want to wish you good luck with the doctor and i hope all goes well with everything. but i think you may be getting shafted on that price for the welder. if you could soemway get your truck down here with maybe just the bolt on brace, my dad would weld it up for 50 bucks. 'bout an hours work tops. the only reason is the distance you know. but convenience is key here for you especially. good luck and may the force be with you...

Hey Tom,

Just got done visiting Painless Wiring's web-site. Application specific: 1983 K10 4x4, 18 circuit wiring harness, 10205, w/ accessory 30702 courtesy light, door dimmer switch. I'm stoked.

Checked Summit Racing. Kit 10205 is $529.95 in stock and the accessory kit is $ 29.88.

Here's a link to the instructions for the kit:

You should be able to look up your specific make and model and find the same. At least you can get educated before hand.

Manny

This is my first post to this thread. I have to say that it is an awesome reference & should be archived once/if you are done with it. Secondly, I'll tell you that you're in my prayers & I hope you recover smoothly from the illness. But let God's will be done.

Now to the point of my reply, I rewired my blazer a few years ago with a kit from american autowire, & I have to say that the kit is AWESOME! I did a LOT of research before I did anything, because that's a lot of money to spend & I wanted it done once & right. The system is very robust & the wiring is top of the line.

The thing that really puts it over the top though are the wiring diagrams. They are great. Each individual system broken down onto it's own 8 1/2X11 sheet for you to install systematically. Made it a piece of cake to do. The only thing about it was in some cases I had to reuse some of the original sockets/connectors, like for the side marker lights or the fuel sending unit. I could have bought those from there as well, but I didn't see a big need to do that. It's just a connector.

Do a little research before you just pop for the Painless kit, there are some other companies out there that have some great stuff as well.

Here's a little list -

http://www.hotrodwires.com/24Circuit.html
http://www.wiringharness.com/ - if you need a concourse reproduction
http://www.lectriclimited.com/mainpage.htm
http://www.ezwiring.com/

HTH,
Buddy

Edit - I almost bought a custom made kit from these guys, but it was going to be about 850.00 back in 2001.

One company that wasnt listed that not many people know is kwikwire. I have built their harnesses and they also install their harnesses upon request of course. I dont know any better customer support than that. No I don't work there any more and i havent worked there in about 5 or 6 years. Because im a marine. But if you do decide on these guys ask for shaun hes the best they got he personally builds the harnesses. and tell him that matt sent you he gives good deals. PM me if you have any questions.
