How hard is it to convert from manual to automatic rear window? Pricey? Thanks

I'm glad you brought this up! It seamed to me last time I saw this that everyone was so PO'd at their poorly made broken stock electric rear window motor but I don't care, I want an electric one!

It's either broken handles on the manuals, or slow to roll up power windows : )

take the "guts" out of a power tailgate truck, and the associated wiring along the frame and up into the cab (along with the switch) and you should be in business.

well, mines suppose to be automatic, but its manual-

I think this may be a "grass is greener" type thing.. I for one don't know of any K5 that hasnt had some sort of problem with its back window..

the auto one that i have i busted, the regulator arms are bent and the motor is burnt or sumthing so i'm gonna go the cheap and get the manual.

If your handle works after you take it out, i would love to get it from you. Because i am damn tired of taping the switch down and getting out to assist the window up.

Is your key-switch in the gate broken too? One thing that can help if you haven't given up completly is a new cable (runs from the motor to the regulator). It makes a 180° turn and it gets hard to turn the cable with age.

your right the key switch is broken. And yes, i have more or less given up on the bloody thing. Unless the cable falls outa the sky im not taking that d#$m tailgate apart unless it is the last time for sure!

I converted mine recently from manual to power...LOVE the swap wouldn't trade it for anything...I just robbed the parts out of another blazer tailgate cleaned them well replaced worn parts with newer ones and had the rear key switch rekeyed to my current door key...everything works fine I still haven't mounted the switch in the dash plate because I want to take my time...its just laying on the floor for now. I have the wiring diagram that I made up when you get ready to do this project.
