Anybody who's installed a manual glowplug controller or switch I would appreciate a 'how-to' thread on that process, I suspect I am not the only one. Thx.
On my '82 all I had to do was use the push button switch to ground the blue wire on the original glow plug relay...(just tapped into the wire,no need to unplug it)...
I also unplugged the glow plug controller,so it couldn't activate the glow plugs any more, just in case..

I did the opposite, applying a permanent ground to one side of the relay and switched power to the other side. It's not crucial as long as your switch maintains control of the process (so I also disconnected the controller on both of my trucks to avoid interference). I've been asked why I don't simply fix the controller, but I've found I prefer having control of the glow plug circuit. Not sure why, but it just seems nice to not have the controller. So I doubt I'll change either of them at this point.
It's also worth noting that at some point the relay burned out on my K10, and I replaced it with a generic relay (think Ford starter relay). So one truck runs the stock relay, and one runs a generic. But both ways it was a trivial thing to wire up. Both of mine look pretty much like the diagram that longbedder posted in that thread.
