hey everyone. i just bought a 87 k5 blazer witht he 350 th700r4 and the silverado package(great truck) the only thing that is wrong with it is a busted trans mount, 4hi wont stay in and one of the front hubs wont turn. i took the front hub off and it looks brand new and all greased up,what gives? the other one was a ittle tight and i broke it loose adn it turns to lock but the driver side hub is stuck. what should i do. thanks alot

for the tcase, its a lever right? if so you can adjust the linkage, or be like me and use a bungee cord to keep it locked in

if the linkage adjustment dosnt work its worn shifter forks (a problem i currently have) Habit, where do you tie the bungee cord to?

If you have a busted trans mount, thats probably why it wont stay in 4hi.

What kind of hubs?

Spicers are the only ones I've dealt with, and when mine was locked up, the teeth were rusted up, even though there was grease in there.

you can go to the seat frame or anything underneath, it holds for me, though you can alwys use tie downs that you pull tight...

just look underneath your seat and there is usually something to bolt it to

\how do you check that?

Just use a jack under the tranny or t case and see if there is excessive movement. Plus, if you know its bad you have to replace it anyway. Might as well do that before you spend money on trying to repair anything else.

they are warn hubs. they have black plastic knobs with a chrome body. how do i heck if the gears are stuck together

Habit, thanks for the tip.

Dr, thanks, ill check that first before i mess with the tcase. How much is excessive movement and could that happen from knocking the truck around alot? It happend all of a sudden.

a shot in the dark...check your trans fluid, my torque convertor made that noise when it when the trans was low on fluid..a shot in the dark and you should check it anyways!

It shouldn't move much at all... And, a lot of times when they are bad they will actually have cracks and breaks in the rubber. Sometimes its pretty obvious.

If the locking hub won't turn and is packed with grease, that may be the problem. You are not supposed pack the lockouts with grease, just put a very light coating on them (I clean them and spray them down with white spray grease).
