I have a 1991 K5 with Warn locking hubs. Did Chevy make 91 blazers with these or are they an aftermarket add on?

I would say it could go either way. Check your glovebox. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Warns as factory? When did GM quit using Spicers as the manual hub?

[/ QUOTE ]

Quite a ways back. My '86 K30 had Warns from the factory.

I thought they eventually went to all automatics.?? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

my 83 k10 had warn premiums in from the factory, has a sticker under the driver side sun viser telling how to use them /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif pics and all

Pictures look like it has the Warn standards on it.

I've never seen a factory set of premiums, only standards.

Are they the cheesy (1991 D60 I had) plastic ones?

Not commenting on how strong they are, they just looked cheap to me. Didn't notice who made them, but now that I think about it, they do not look like the older Spicer pieces.

im interested in a pic of this as well. thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

yeah i too would love to see those nostalgic photos. My 83 k30 had warn standards from the factory but the visor has the instructions for auto hubs /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Thats GM for ya!

ill get the pics for ya next time im down there.

my dads 85 blazer also has premuims in it, no sticker though. not sure if they were swaped in or what, po wasn't that kinda guy, so /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

On 1/2 & 3/4 ton trucks 1980 was the last year of Spicer manual locking hubs and on K-30's 1981 was the last year for the Spicers . HTH's Tom

I'll have to look at CUCV hubs next time I see them.

The Blazers (M1009 IIRC) I thought had the black plastic "square" knobs on them. The ones in the diagram look to have the contoured knob, does that denote premium vs. "standard" Warns?

I believe the '91 D60 I had was also equipped with the "square" knobs on the hubs as well.

We had to put manual hubs on my grandfathers 91 Suburban. It came factory with automatics. Manual is the only way to go

As a matter of fact, in '86 or '87. GM stopped offering auto hubs on the D60's. Perhaps after a re-design they came back, but not any earlier than '89 on the D60.
